Barcelona Spain poster print
Barcelona is one of those rare cities that is both ultra-modern and still true to its traditional roots all in one. It is a thriving hotbed of fashion, sports, food and undoubtedly some of the quirkiest architecture you will ever see in your life!
The city is home to the amazing work of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, whose colorful and angular designs were inspired by nature. You can't venture through Barcelona without coming across a Gaudi creation. And each and every one of them is truly a sight to behold. Starting at the very top of the city is Park Güell, which not only houses a number of colorful mosaic structures, but also offers stunning views over Barcelona.
Gaudi's most famous piece has to be the subject of our picture, the Sagrada Familia. This huge basilica has been under construction since 1882 (that's right, they're still working on it to this day, but it's due to be completed by 2026) and its beauty can be compared to that of an ornate palace. As well as admiring the stunning building itself, you can also take a guided tour or simply marvel at the beautiful stained glass windows.
There are so many interesting and beautiful things to see in the city that it's hard to know where to go next, but luckily the Barcelona Tourist Board has come up with the perfect solution. The "Touristic" bus is a relatively cheap way to see all the major sites and learn about their history without having to walk for miles in the heat. You can visit famous sites like the Olympic Park, Camp Nou (home of FC Barcelona), Port Vell, and much of the Gaudi architecture while listening to a recorded guided tour with a personal headset. Hop on and off as you please so you can see more of the things you want, and leisurely drive past the things you don't find interesting. Easy enough.
Las Ramblas is one of the most talked about areas in Barcelona and that's because it's pretty much a gateway for any direction you want to go. This spacious and shady main street is home to Mercat la Boqueria, which is considered an absolute delight for foodies everywhere - enjoy everything from tapas, fresh juices, fruit platters, seafood and sweet treats. If you venture a little away from the main street, you'll discover Placa Reial, a lovely little square that you'll want to spend a lot of time in. You'll be spoilt for choice with restaurants, bars and nightclubs serving up amazing dishes, tapas, cocktails and other tasty dishes that you won't want to eat anywhere else!
