Often referred to as the Pearl of the Atlantic, Croatia's capital is one of the most charming places to visit on a European city break. With a long history dating back to the 7th century, Dubrovnik is all about its historical values. It is this old-world charm that made the city famous in the TV series Game of Thrones, with many of the city's filming locations used during the series' eight-year run. One of the most popular things to do in Dubrovnik is the Game of Thrones walking tour, which takes fans to many of the main filming locations.

Dubrovnik's Old Town (featured in our poster image) was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and described as "paradise on earth" by Irish poet Bernard Shaw. It's not hard to see why. With its endless rows of whitewashed buildings, ornate terracotta roofs and impressive city walls, it's a delightful place to spend a few days. The city walls are one of the area's main attractions; built in the 9th century, they are still remarkably well preserved. They enclose the entire city and offer spectacular views of the city and the Adriatic Sea. As well as the walls, Dubrovnik's fortresses are also a much-visited part of the city. Located both along the city walls and separately from them, they offer further insight into the city's history and beautiful views of the sea and the city below. One of the main draws for visitors is the main street, known as Placa or Stradun.
